Our Addiction Treatment Programs in Mississippi

Drug and Alcohol Detox Program

We’ve worked with many people who were afraid to start detox because they didn’t know what to expect or had experienced difficult withdrawals before. At Extra Mile Recovery, detox is never treated as a routine process or a one-size-fits-all step. Every client begins with a comprehensive medical and clinical assessment so we can determine the safest and most appropriate level of care.

For some individuals, ambulatory detox allows them to safely withdraw while remaining engaged in therapeutic programming under close medical supervision. For those with more severe withdrawal risks or complex medical needs, we provide 24/7 medically supervised detox with continuous monitoring and symptom management. Our medical team evaluates vital signs, manages discomfort, and determines whether medication support is clinically appropriate.

Detox is about more than physical stabilization. From the first day, clients begin working with our clinical team, so treatment starts immediately, not after withdrawal ends. We focus on helping each person feel safe, clear-minded, and supported as they take the first steps into recovery.

Residential Inpatient Program

Our addiction rehab programs in Mississippi are structured to provide the time, focus, and clinical depth necessary for meaningful change. In our residential inpatient program, clients live on campus in gender-specific settings that promote accountability, privacy, and concentration on recovery without outside distractions.

Treatment includes individual therapy with licensed clinicians, process-oriented group therapy, family therapy, and evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). For clients with trauma histories or co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma-informed care is integrated into treatment planning. With small group sizes, our clinical team is able to provide consistent attention and individualized adjustments throughout each client’s stay.

We offer 30, 60, and 90-day Residential Inpatient Programs for men and women in separate locations, both providing the same level of structured, intensive care. Length of stay is determined by clinical need, history of relapse, mental health factors, and the stability of the home environment. This level of care is often most appropriate for individuals who need daily therapeutic support, struggle with repeated relapse, or do not have a safe and sober living environment to return to.

Chronic Relapse Program

Addiction recovery can be especially discouraging for individuals who have completed treatment before but continue to relapse. Our Chronic Relapse Program was created specifically for men and women who need a more in-depth and individualized approach after previous treatment attempts.

Rather than repeating what has not worked, our clinical team conducts a detailed review of prior treatment experiences, relapse timelines, environmental triggers, emotional stressors, and any untreated trauma or co-occurring disorders. We examine patterns closely to understand where breakdowns occurred and what gaps may have been left unaddressed.

This program places additional emphasis on advanced relapse prevention planning, behavioral pattern disruption, accountability structures, and trauma-informed therapy when appropriate. For clients who have struggled with traditional models, we adapt therapeutic methods to better fit their learning styles, resistance patterns, and clinical needs. The goal is not short-term sobriety, but sustainable recovery built on insight, structure, and realistic long-term planning.

CLIENT SUCCESS IN OUR CHRONIC RELAPSE PROGRAM:

I came to Extra Mile after many failed attempts in outpatient and 30-day programs. I had been using drugs for 8 years where at the end I was homeless living out of my care. I’m lucky I found this program and I stayed as long as I did (the full 90 days). I’ve grown up in so many ways and now I have the tools to keep me strong when I’m faced with the option to relapse. Today I have a life that’s full and I can once again provide for my family. Extra Mile will always have a special place in my heart!”

Aftercare & Alumni

Transitioning from structured treatment back into everyday life can feel overwhelming, even for clients who have made significant progress. Our Aftercare Planning Program begins well before discharge to ensure each person leaves with a clear, realistic plan in place.

Our recovery team works individually with each client to coordinate outpatient therapy referrals, psychiatric follow-up when needed, recovery meeting connections, and sober living recommendations if appropriate. We also spend time identifying potential triggers, strengthening coping skills, and creating a relapse response plan so clients know exactly what steps to take if challenges arise.

With the variety of rehab programs in Mississippi, our alumni community remains an ongoing source of encouragement and connection. Former clients stay in touch, support one another, and continue building recovery alongside peers who understand the journey firsthand.

Sober Living

While many of our clients are ready to return to their lives after completing our drug and alcohol rehab programs for addiction treatment, some feel they would benefit from a more structured living situation in the weeks and months following our programming. Through our sister companies, Brightside and Ascension, we offer sober living and transitional housing for men and women in separate, retreat-style settings in Austin, TX. This allows clients to rejoin society with new surroundings, serving as an excellent way to adjust to life in recovery in a supportive and friendly community. During Aftercare Planning, our counselors spend time discussing these options with our clients and arrange complimentary transportation services from our Mississippi rehab facilities.
