OUR RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMMING
MEN’S INPATIENT TREATMENT
Our founders didn’t just choose our name because it sounds good: going the extra mile for our clients is a part of everything we do here. We serve only men so that we can focus our care on their specific needs. We offer various forms of therapy and counseling, each designed to tackle a different part of life in recovery. We keep our groups small so our clinical team can provide individualized attention. And we offer various lengths of stay to ensure each client is given the time they need to find lasting sobriety.
Drug & Alcohol
Detox
Our approach to detox is a little more clinical than most rehab facilities. We offer on-site ambulatory detox to ensure we keep a close watch over clients as they begin their journey to recovery and work to get clean. For cases with more severe withdrawal symptoms, we also provide access to a full medical detox facility with 24/7 care.
Everyone’s addiction is different, and so is their path to finding sobriety. We offer multiple levels of detox so that clients can rid their body of addictive substances in the safest, most comfortable way possible. Our goal is to help our clients regain the physical strength and energy they need to focus and be active in their recovery.
30 · 60 · 90 Day
Inpatient Tracks
While we encourage a longer length of stay, we understand that each client has their own individualized needs, and it takes less time for some individuals to get back on their feet. That’s why we offer 30, 60, and 90-day Residential Programs to account for client progress, time constraints, and other factors such as insurance policies.
It’s important to us that none of our tracks compromise on quality of care. Whether you’re ending your stay at 30 days or you’re only just beginning your journey with us, we will have spent that time providing comprehensive, personalized therapies that set you up for a lifetime of successful recovery, in or out of our programming.
Chronic Relapse
Program
Not every recovery journey is smooth. Some individuals who struggle with addiction may relapse while in recovery, and while there’s certainly no shame in this, we recognize that it can be frustrating and demoralizing — especially when the individual has completed a drug and alcohol rehab program elsewhere, but it didn’t stick long-term.
With our Chronic Relapse Program, we focus our attention on men who have been unable to maintain their sobriety. By identifying the source of their addiction and understanding what hasn’t worked well in the past, we’re able to introduce new perspectives and new modes of thought while building on what has worked to create lasting change.
Aftercare & Alumni Support
During Aftercare, our goal is to help you safely transition back into your daily life. We’ll address how to manage triggers, cope with stress, and apply your recovery tool-kit to help keep you sober. For those who would benefit from a structured environment after rehab, we also offer sober living at our sister facility, Brightside.
Whatever you choose to do after our programming, one thing we can promise is that you won’t be alone. We offer a wider alumni brotherhood network so that your support system continues long after rehab. Our alumni members continue to celebrate and advise each other in the years following their shared experiences at Extra Mile Recovery.

OUR RECOVERY SERVICES
HEALING THE BODY, MIND & SPIRIT
At Extra Mile Recovery, we take a comprehensive look at the client and their addiction. Our integration of evidence-based and holistic therapies is designed to address the mental health issues and imbalances that have made the client’s addiction so difficult to break. It’s by treating these underlying causes that we can begin to change habits and make lasting change.
- Individual Counseling
- Group Therapy
- Family Therapy
- 12-Step Immersion
- Trauma-Focused (EMDR)
- Dual-Diagnosis Treatment
Individual Counseling
In our one-on-one counseling, our therapists work with clients to understand the roots of their addiction: what unfulfilled needs led to their addiction, and what life experiences fueled their substance abuse? It’s by answering these questions that we can begin to find other, healthier ways to cope with their addiction’s triggers.
By using multiple therapy methods, we’re able to both analyze mental health from multiple angles and try a few different ways to help the client tackle their addiction and personal issues. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a talk-therapy that focuses on clients analyzing their own thoughts and reactions to triggers, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), a more coping skill-based therapy.
Key Benefits:
- Truly individualized treatment plans
- Addresses the root causes of addiction
- Various modalities, including CBT and DBT
- Coping skills, recovery tools, and trigger avoidance
Group Therapy
While we keep our groups small, that doesn’t mean we don’t value the power of peer support and socializing during rehab. In fact, group therapy can be one of the most important tools in helping our clients make sense of their addiction.
In our various group therapies, clients are encouraged to open up, celebrate each other’s successes, and provide support as the people around them continue on their recovery journeys. By learning from each other, using empathy, and practicing coping skills with others, clients are able to grow and expand their support network — and circle of friends.
Key Benefits:
- Small, dedicated processing groups allow interpersonal relationship development
- Psychoeducational groups that focus on coping with stressors and relapse prevention
- Independent living skills the teach the value of structure and maintaining a schedule
- All groups help form strong, healthy bonds and a lasting support network
Family Therapy
Loved ones are a crucial part of recovery, and we believe that involving them in rehab can be extremely helpful for our clients when all involved are ready to work together. Our family interventionist comes in for open educational seminars on families and addiction, and separate, private family therapy can be scheduled with a specialist.
In family therapy, a client’s friends and family can come to better understand their addiction, and those loved ones get a chance to be honest about how their lives have been affected as well. This strengthens the client’s support network, and relieves some of the pressure put on the family.
Key Benefits:
- Allows both clients and their loved ones to better understand each other
- Improves communication and rebuilds relationships that have been damaged by addiction
- Provides a forgiving place and relief for all involved
- Helps ensure clients have a safe, positive environment to return after rehab
12-Step Immersion
The 12 Steps is one of the most popular models for overcoming addiction, and we’ve seen how useful a tool it can be for clients to make measured progress in recovery. We offer four 12 Step meetings per week, 3 off-site and 1 on-site, so that clients can slowly get more and more involved with this process.
With the help of a recovery specialist, our clients work to define their 12 Steps around their beliefs and specific addiction. The first step is always admitting that there’s a problem, but we help our clients decide how to take the rest of those steps at a pace they feel comfortable with.
Key Benefits:
- A proven way to make and measure recovery progress
- Gives clients an opportunity to find purpose and meaning in life
- Group meetings are supportive, informative, and based on fellowship
- Allows for emotional and spiritual healing, while also focusing on how to make amends
Trauma-Focused (EMDR)
One of our most unique specialties is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy specifically designed to address trauma. Rod Farrar, our Clinical Director and an industry veteran, is a highly-knowledgeable and well-respected specialist in EMDR, and has helped countless clients address their trauma.
Essentially, EMDR is used to identify both the source of trauma and its triggers, in the real world and in the psychological mind. Then, both the trauma and its triggers are associated with different thoughts and behaviors so that the client can become desensitized to them. This works for trauma at many levels of severity and is one of our most popular and effective treatment modalities.
Key Benefits:
- An effective trauma treatment that’s hard to find elsewhere
- Treatment overseen by a specialist with years of experience
- Specifically designed to make trauma more manageable
- Puts clients in control of their feelings while reducing anxiety and depression
Dual-Diagnosis Treatment
It’s fairly common for clients to suffer from a dual diagnosis, also known as a co-occurring disorder. This is when there is a mental illness accompanying an addiction, such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD. These can be complex, because each mental illness requires its own treatment, but they often become intertwined with each other.
We’ve found its most effective to treat each mental illness individually, but simultaneously. This way each condition gets the attention it deserves, but the dual diagnosis is unraveled from both ends at the same time so that each can be better understood and overcome.
Key Benefits:
- Personalized treatment for each client’s unique dual diagnosis
- Teaches clients how to get control of the issues that are controlling their lives
- Holistic approach that heals the mind, body, and soul
- Allows clients to understand the complex nature of their co-occurring disorder though processes
